Marta arrives at Barcelona airport after her first solo flight. She goes through customs, collects her luggage, and meets her cousin Lisa outside the arrivals hall.
De aankomst
Na een lange vlucht van acht uur landde het vliegtuig eindelijk op de luchthaven van Barcelona. Marta was moe maar opgewonden. Ze keek uit het raampje en zag de felverlichte startbaan. De piloot kondigde aan: ‘Welkom op de luchthaven van Barcelona. De lokale tijd is nu 14:00 uur.’ Marta pakte haar handbagage en controleerde of haar paspoort nog in haar jaszak zat. Dit was haar eerste solo-reis en ze wilde niets vergeten.
Toen ze uit het vliegtuig stapte, volgde ze de borden naar de aankomsthal. Overal waren mensen met koffers en tassen. Ze zag een groot scherm met alle vluchten. Haar vlucht stond erop: ‘Vlucht KL 1234 uit Amsterdam – Gearriveerd.’ Marta glimlachte. Ze was veilig aangekomen. Nu moest ze alleen nog door de douane en haar bagage ophalen.
Bij de douane stond een lange rij. Marta wachtte geduldig. Toen ze aan de beurt was, gaf ze haar paspoort aan de douanebeambte. ‘Wat is het doel van uw bezoek?’ vroeg de man. ‘Vakantie,’ antwoordde Marta. De beambte bekeek haar paspoort en gaf het terug. ‘Welkom in Spanje,’ zei hij. Marta liep verder, opgelucht dat ze door de douane was.
Nu moest ze naar de bagageband. Ze zocht band nummer 3, waar de bagage van haar vlucht zou komen. Het duurde even voordat de band begon te draaien. Eerst kwamen er alleen maar lege koffers, maar toen zag ze haar eigen koffer. Ze pakte hem snel en controleerde of het slot nog dicht was. Alles was in orde.
Met haar bagage in de hand liep Marta naar de uitgang. Onderweg zag ze een bord met ‘Gate 12’. Ze dacht terug aan het inchecken op Schiphol. Daar had ze haar instapkaart gekregen en haar koffer afgegeven. Nu was ze hier, klaar om de stad te verkennen. Ze voelde zich trots dat ze alles zelf had geregeld.
Buiten de aankomsthal stond haar nichtje Lisa te wachten. ‘Marta! Eindelijk!’ riep Lisa. Ze omhelsden elkaar. ‘Hoe was de vlucht?’ vroeg Lisa. ‘Lang, maar goed,’ antwoordde Marta. ‘Het inchecken ging soepel en de douane was vriendelijk.’ Samen liepen ze naar de parkeerplaats. Marta keek nog een keer om naar de luchthaven. Dit was het begin van een geweldige vakantie.
Arrival in Barcelona
After a long eight-hour flight, the plane finally landed at Barcelona airport. Marta was tired but excited. She looked out the window and saw the brightly lit runway. The pilot announced: ‘Welcome to Barcelona airport. The local time is now 2:00 PM.’ Marta grabbed her hand luggage and checked if her passport was still in her jacket pocket. This was her first solo trip and she didn’t want to forget anything.
When she got off the plane, she followed the signs to the arrivals hall. Everywhere there were people with suitcases and bags. She saw a large screen with all the flights. Her flight was on it: ‘Flight KL 1234 from Amsterdam – Arrived.’ Marta smiled. She had arrived safely. Now she just had to go through customs and pick up her luggage.
At customs there was a long line. Marta waited patiently. When it was her turn, she gave her passport to the customs officer. ‘What is the purpose of your visit?’ the man asked. ‘Holiday,’ Marta replied. The officer looked at her passport and gave it back. ‘Welcome to Spain,’ he said. Marta walked on, relieved that she was through customs.
Now she had to go to the baggage carousel. She looked for carousel number 3, where the luggage from her flight would arrive. It took a while before the carousel started moving. At first only empty suitcases came, but then she saw her own suitcase. She grabbed it quickly and checked if the lock was still closed. Everything was fine.
With her luggage in hand, Marta walked to the exit. Along the way she saw a sign saying ‘Gate 12’. She thought back to checking in at Schiphol. There she had received her boarding pass and dropped off her suitcase. Now she was here, ready to explore the city. She felt proud that she had arranged everything herself.
Outside the arrivals hall, her cousin Lisa was waiting. ‘Marta! Finally!’ Lisa called. They hugged each other. ‘How was the flight?’ Lisa asked. ‘Long, but good,’ Marta replied. ‘Checking in went smoothly and customs was friendly.’ Together they walked to the parking lot. Marta looked back at the airport one more time. This was the beginning of a great holiday.

Dit is een voorbeeld van een tijdsbepaling met ‘na’ gevolgd door een zelfstandig naamwoord. Het geeft aan wanneer iets gebeurt.

‘Toen’ wordt gebruikt voor een eenmalige gebeurtenis in het verleden. Het geeft een opeenvolging van acties aan.
aan de beurt zijn
Dit betekent dat het jouw beurt is om iets te doen, bijvoorbeeld in een rij.
in orde zijn
Dit betekent dat alles goed is of correct werkt.
klaar om
Dit betekent dat je helemaal voorbereid bent om iets te doen.
Aankomst op de luchthaven
In Nederland en België is het gebruikelijk om bij aankomst op een luchthaven eerst door de douane te gaan en daarna je bagage op te halen. De douane vraagt vaak naar het doel van je bezoek en controleert je paspoort.
